Nibi Mahnomen Preservation Project White Earth Tribal and Community College

Student contributions to field and laboratory studies play a major role in understanding the body of knowledge available to our community and culture.

Our Challenge

Climate Change is a fact. It's OUR future.
Anishinaabe elders of the White Earth Nation recognize that the health and well-being of
Nibi (water) and Manoomin (wild rice)
must be managed in ways that blend western science and traditional knowledge.
This project emerged as a call to their concerns.

Our Mission

The Nibi Manoomin Preservation Project provides an educational experience for White Earth Tribal College students in field research science with a focus on Nibi and Manoomin on the lands of the White Earth Reservation.
